Giorgio Ratto, born in Genoa on May 9th 1988.

He studied flute until the graduate under the guide of Marcello Crocco in Ovada, continuing his studies at the Conservatory “Nicolini” in Piacenza where he took the soloist degree. He after perfected studying with Raffaele Trevisani and Marco Zoni, principal flute of La Scala Theatre in Milan.

He won some regional and national competition and scored the suitability at the auditions for some of the most important Italian orchestras; he participated as active student in masterclass of well-known flutist like James Galway (UK), Angela Jones Reus (USA), Janos Balint (MAJ).

Winner of the 2013 auditions in the Academy of La Scala Theatre in Milan, he works as flutist in the Contemporary Music Ensemble “G.Bernasconi”, with which he participated to several dates of the Concert Season at the Ridotto dei Palchi “A.Toscanini” of La Scala Theatre, and he took part in two productions of the Italian opera “Quartett” by L.Francesconi at Wiener Festwochen (Vienna, Austria) in 2012 and for the Holland Festival (Amsterdam, Holland) in 2013. He often works even with the Symphonic Orchestra of the same academy, and he performed on the fashioned stage of La Scala Theatre in Milan in June and September 2013, performing also in other Theatre like the Teatro Grande in Brescia and the Kissinger Sommer festival in Bad Kissinger, Germany.

During his orchestral activity he performed under the stick of conductors like Donato Renzetti, Pablo Varela, Alessandro Bares, Peter Rundel, Susanne Malkki, Renato Rivolta, Marco Angius, Francesco Angelico, Massimiliano Murrali, Pietro Mianiti and David Coleman.

He’s member of the Flute Orchestra “Zephyrus”, created and directed by Marco Zoni, with which he scored a huge public success all over northern Italy, in radio transmission like “La Stanza della Musica” on Rai Radio 3, and with which has programmed lot of concerts in the incoming 2013-2014  (Rome, Udine, Bolzano, Milan, La Scala and Dal Verme Theatre). With “Zephyrus” orchestra he published the CD “In un Soffio” for the Italian label Stradivarius, Milan.

In flute and guitar duo, he works with Antonio Amodeo. The “Ipanema Duo” performed in a lot of concerts all along Italy, Switzerland and Germany. In 2012 they published for the label “Sheva” the CD “Anakrusys”, today with more than 1,000 copies sold at live concerts and on the net.

As a teacher, he’s resident professor at Music School “C.Soliva” in Casale Monferrato (IT-AL), “Società Filarmonica di Cornigliano”, “Centro Musicale Mancini” and “Orchestra Giovanile Merello” in Genoa (IT).
